How do we assess data quality before moving to next-gen SAP Ariba?
Short answer
Profile the data sets the new platform and its AI will rely on – supplier master, catalogs, contracts, commodity codes and open documents – looking for duplicates, missing fields, outdated records and inconsistencies with SAP S/4HANA.
Data-quality checklist
- Suppliers: duplicates, inactive suppliers, missing tax or bank details, mismatches with ERP business partners.
- Catalogs: outdated prices, missing images or descriptions, expired items.
- Contracts: missing dates, owners, values or linked suppliers.
- Classification: consistent commodity codes (for example UNSPSC).
- Open documents: old POs, requisitions and events to close before cut-over.
Why it matters more with AI
AI agents are only as good as the data they can see. Poor data leads to poor recommendations and erodes user trust in the new system.
